Organization Validation

Validation that confirms both domain ownership and organization identity

Validation Types

Organization Validation (OV) certificates provide a higher level of assurance than Domain Validation by verifying both domain control and the legal existence of the requesting organization. The CA performs additional checks including verifying the organization's registration with government databases, confirming the organization's physical address, and validating that the person requesting the certificate is authorized to act on behalf of the organization. This process typically takes 1-3 business days and may involve phone verification calls to the organization.

OV certificates include organization information in the certificate details, which users can view by clicking on the padlock icon in their browser. While OV certificates don't display the organization name in the address bar like EV certificates, they provide a good balance between security assurance and cost. They are ideal for business websites, corporate applications, and any scenario where establishing organizational credibility is important but the premium cost of EV certificates isn't justified.
